Looking back over the last year or so, I realised that I’ve been avoiding writing about my TBRs each month even though I have been setting (and mostly keeping to) them, so let’s change that. Here’s what I’m hoping to get to in June.
Star Wars: The High Republic
My journey through The High Republic is, miraculously, still on track, and I’m now comfortably into phase two. The three books I have scheduled for June are Convergence by Zoraida Cordova, The Battle of Jedha by George Mann, and Cataclysm by Lydia Kang. All three are re-reads, but I’m hoping to gain much more from them this time around, having read more of the previous books in the series. They’re also my final THR re-reads, everything from July on is brand new to me!
Buzzwordathon
The Buzzwordathon prompt for June is a Memory Word, and I have to admit this one has given me some problems! I was considering Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young, but more likely I will end up borrowing a copy of Walter Lord’s A Night to Remember from my library. This classic is a collection of first-hand accounts of the sinking of the Titanic that’s been hovering on the periphery of my TBR for a long time.
Atmosphere
I’m very excited to get stuck into the new Taylor Jenkins Reid novel, having thoroughly enjoyed many of her previous books. Given that Atmosphere appears to be a sapphic story about female astronauts in the space shuttle programme during the 1980s, I was excited enough to have even pre-ordered the stunning Waterstones exclusive signed edition and I really want to get started with it as soon as it arrives.
So It Started There
Pulp have been one of my favourite bands back almost as far as I can remember, and I’m thrilled to be seeing them live for a second time this June. I went to a signing event at Lincoln Book Festival at the end of 2023 where I picked up a copy of So It Started There by Pulp’s drummer Nick Banks, and I can’t think of a better month to read it in.
The Lochfearn Readathon
Finally, June is the last month of Round Two of the Lochfearn Readathon hosted by Winn at Literary Diversions. For this final month I’ve planned to visit the Sheep’s Heid Pub where I’ll need to read:
A Book Under 290 Pages
A Book Between 300–390 Pages
A Book Over 500 Pages
A Book from my Top Shelf
Some of the books I’ve mentioned already fit those categories, but I’ll need to add at least one more as I go if I’m to successfully complete this final location.
What are your reading plans for next month?
