My July 2025 TBR
My July TBR is looking surprisingly open so far, with a lot of scope for mood reading. That’s something I’m not all that used to, so I’m hoping I don’t fall into a reading slump caused by an inability to choose my next book!
Let’s get into it!
Star Wars: The High Republic
I made a mistake on my June TBR by including Cataclysm by Lydia Kang, which was actually scheduled for July, so that one will be pulled forward. In addition, I need to read Quest for Planet X by Tessa Gratton, and Path of Vengeance by Cavan Scott in order to stay on track. If I get the opportunity, I might pull one of my August THR books forward, as I know I’ll be busy travelling during that month.
Buzzwordathon
The Buzzwordathon prompt for July is “punctuation” which gives me a good range of optiosn for my existing owned TBR. I have many many books with colons in the title, plus many with apostrophes, commas, and even the odd question mark. Some of the books I’m currently looking at using for this prompt are the second book in the Whisperwicks series, The Dalai Lama's Cat by David Michie, or Mace Windu: The Glass Abyss by Steven Barnes because…
Increasing My Bought & Read This Year Percentage
One of my goals in 2025 is to read as much of what I buy this year as possible within the same year. Following a book buying splurge in Manchester, my percentage currently stands at precisely 50% with my having finished 24 of the 48 books I’ve bought so far this year. That’s good but not great, so I’m hoping to use July to increase that percentage a little more, especially as I have a few trips coming up that could easily result in the purchasing of even more books! I’d love to get to My Inner Sky by Mari Andrew, Ghostlines by Katya Balen, and Love at First Sighting by Mallory Marlowe.
Connections
I’ve also decided to take on the 52 Book Club Connections Challenge, although I’m not assigning any timetables to this one - it will take as long as it takes. For the Connections challenge, you read one book, then use it to figure out what to read for the next prompt. So while prompt number one was simply to “read any book”, prompt two asks me to read a book that shares a title word with the first book. I’ve hidden the remaining prompts from myself to avoid over planning, but I know the first book I’ll be tackling in July for this is Killer Content by Kiley Roache.
What are your reading plans for next month?
